Oh how I love thee DangerBird Records and Sea Wolf [Alex Brown Church from Irving] I saw about 70% of a Sea Wolf show the other week at the Explex. I was going to write something on it but the Tripwire beat me too it. Yet they did review a different show… all well. This song and video are perfect to me in many ways I can’t really describe. It just works. Beautiful cinematography and well the song is the song. It’s just plain good.

The EP Get To The River Before It Runs Too Low is out today so make sure you go and get yourself a copy. Or better yet, iTunes it.

You will recognize this song because Jose Gonzales covered it and made it quite the popular song. Yet the thing is Swedish group The Knife made is years ago. A buddy of mine sent me the video a couple weeks ago and it’s such a perfect Saturday afternoon song. I kinda wish I’m out skating right now… maybe tomorrow. If you can, head outside, that’s what weekends are for right?

I totally just snagged this from spinner but it’s cool cause I’m giving them reps. Another actor turned musician, yet he doesn’t suck. I like Jason Schwartzman in everything I’ve seen him in and now I like his music. He’s got a nice indie pop sound going on. Honestly Mark Gonzales is what makes the video for me. I used to be a skater kid before I went to college and remember him like it was yesterday watching skate videos on saturday afternoons before going out to new spots. Oh those were the days. Enjoy the video.

By the way, details on Coconut Records. It’s Jason Schwartzman’s band. His debut solo album is titled “Nighttiming.”

Season two of The Henry Rollins show just started up and is looking like a sweet season. Honestly I haven’t caught the show yet (at least I have the IFC channel) but everything I’ve read about it sounds exactly like raw Henry Rollins. Just think about how awesome Henry Rollins is, then give him a tv show and you are bound to see magic. Rollins was lead singer of Black Flag in the 80’s and has appeared in a slew of tv shows and movies since then. Basically what I’m trying to saw is he is a perfect in your face tv show host. Here’s one last bit until I get to what I was actually talking about. From his wikipedia page:

Rollins was in a relationship with actress Kari Wuhrer, he then dumped her via email.

Anyways, sorry I got off track talking about the Rollins. What I really wanted to mention was Ryan Adams is on this weeks show playing an amazing set with his band. “Goodnight Rose” is the video to watch. I mean it is Ryan Adams and nothing short of amazing comes from him. There is also an interview up there if you want to watch.

If you haven’t heard of the new show Human Giant all you need to know is that it’s hilarious. With the likes of Aziz Ansari (remember Clell Tickle??), Jason Woliner, Paul Scheer, and Rob Huebel and plenty of cameo’s you are going to die. I picked the above clip because… well because Nick Swardson and there has to be some kind of record saying vagina the most amount of times in a couple minutes.

Well I just opened Quicktime and here is Natasha Bedingfield telling me she wants to have my babies. My next question would be how many? The video is a bit sexy but what the hell is wrong with the first guy? He runs away!?! I guess it was for the best. Natasha’s new album “NB” comes out at the end of this month.

As you may have noticed it’s a bit of a weird blogging day for me. This morning was Duran Duran and now Natasha Bedingfield. Things will acquire normality sometime soon. I just got a kick out of the title of this song and the fact that she’s a hot blonde.

Well I haven’t listened to any Metric newer than Grow Up and Blow Away, [which is actually unreleased] probably because I didn’t catch their latest album in 2005 Live It Up. Whoops, all well. I was browsing The Tripwire as I do quite often - you should too - and watched this video. Love the video, not so sure about the song. It’s just to short for me, I want more. The video is beautiful in its own dark destructive empty way, which is the point I’m sure. In case you haven’t already figured out, Metric falls into the same category of chick lead singer rock bands like Rilo Kiley and their spinoffs as well as all the chick lead singer rock bands that blew up in 2006. All good stuff by these women.

I hadn’t heard of Peter Toh until this week and I am really impressed. This video is first of all extremely well done. The cinematography is beautifully in sync with the song. The song itself is infectious. I can’t help but listen to it. It’s gotta be the beat or something - or everything.

I may be a douchebag for saying this, but this song/video + Peter Toh have all the qualities to be the next Justin Timberlake. Sick beats, the lyrics/voice, and the subtle hint of pop to set mtv and all the kids on fire.
**update 4/6/07** To clarify - I’m saying he could be as big as Justin Timberlake. Timberlake’s / Toh’s music is both hip hop and pop that people love. Some of my friends were confused so I thought I’d try to clear things up.

I’ll most likely be writing more on Peter Toh in the future so keep a look out.

I’ve loved the Cold War Kids since I first saw them quite some time ago. This year (actually 2006) they blew up all over the place because people realized how awesome they are. That rock with the southern feel just tickled everybody’s fancy. This video is amazing because well these guys are mad talented. That’s all there is to it.

This isn’t a new video or anything yet it struck my fancy today. I’m on my spring break wasting and makes the most out of my time. This video is awesome especially in the second half. Things start disapearing and there is an everlasting crotch zoom. Yeah you know you want to see.

If you haven’t seen this already there’s a bit of Old Man in the Sea in this video. These guys have come a loooong way from their days of of making tracks that sounded like they were made in a shower. All kinds of special effects in this video including an awesome mic for an arm and guitar neck for a leg.

This is the second video for the song and honestly it’s pretty creepy. Everybody seems to think they stole the idea from Garden State. At least that’s what every commenter that knows everything on the Youtube post says.
