Eventful day yesterday - you could say so eventful I didn’t get around to posting. I was able to drop by Amoeba, sell some old cds and get a couple new ones that I have been wanting for awhile. I finally picked up the Phoenix album - “It’s Never Been Like That.” and Rock Kills Kid - “Are You Nervous?” They will both be on heavey rotation today and I am very pleased.
Onto the night, sorry no pictures. Started off at The Hammer for “Also, I like to Rock,” which has a been a free show every Thursday of this month. I went to see People In Planes [click for mp3] which I just missed as I got there, and then Shiny Toy Guns were up next. Shiny Toy Guns played an okaaayyy show. I think it was just okay because unfortunately they were having sound problems and also my mixed feelings about The Hammer overall. It was way packed, and right when I got there they had just ran out of beer. I’ll be talking about Shiny Toy Guns later.
After The Hammer, onto JAX’s Hell Ya! night at The Echo. Here’s were the night turned awesome in my book. Met all kinds of new people who are all awesome. To name a couple and say hello, Chantal from Morningwood, Lauren from Rocket, Garren, (two R’s? - sorry I kept messing up your name) Ryan, Evan, uhh uhhh and I’m sorry if I already forgot names of other people I met. You guys are all rad. Plus JAX and Becca I guess you guys are cool too.
I found out, even though I wasn’t particularly fond of the red boots in my Rocket show review post, I found out from Lauren that “Rocket IS the red boots.”
What about the music? Glacier and Tally Hall I missed, got to see Polus and Audrye Sessions. Audrye Sessions played an amazing show, and Polus as well. Now it’s time to scramble and find their music to share with all of you.
I do have a song for the night,
Wolfmother - Love Train

Thanks for coming out man. It was a lot of fun. Audrye Sessions were fantastic as was Polus (minus the technical difficulties).

[…] Months ago a buddy of mine introduced me Shiny Toy Guns. I thought, this is cool and dancy and whatnot, but let me just get this out of the way. I personally only like two songs off the album. It’s not “bad” it just that I felt I had to say that because sometimes things like that need to be said. Those two songs are “You Are The One,” and “Le Disko.” They are by far their two most popular jams, even KROQ here in LA has been playing them this past month or two. I saw them live awhile ago and thought the show was just ok. Yet there is no denying, these two songs are hits. Their sound is electronica pop rock with both a male and female singers which I think adds alot to the music. The album “We Are Pilots” out October 17th. […]
