The Colour / Wired All Wrong Live

written by: DAN
The Colour

Went to Cinespace last night – haven’t been there in many moons. Gotta love the free booze. So The Colour went on first. A local Los Angeles band that just released their album Between Earth & Sky. I thoroughly enjoyed them. They played all the songs to keep the audience moving. They also had alot more people watching than Wired All Wrong which was I guess the headliner if there is such a thing at Cinespace.

I will say that lead singer had all the right microphone tricks. You know the spinning around and all those tricks you see the emo bands doing. He had them down even though they aren’t an emo band by any means – I guess I’m just scarred from seeing that kind of thing all too often on mtv. I revisited their music today and like it even more than last night. He’s got a powerful voice and their rock soul music is all to perfect to listen to hanging out with friends. Overall good show by The Colour.

Now onto Wired All Wrong. Well here’s were it goes down hill folks. Sorry but I watched about 2 -3 minutes of the first song then decided to amuse myself somewhere else. The guys were playing like it was an arena and they were ready for the big time. Especially the bassist with his black fingernails and gloves cut off at the knuckle. There were just too many things that turned me off I could write about but it’s really just easier to say this -

It was about as typical as a girl wearing ugg boots in the winter.

It amuses me to say that even with all their grand theatrics on stage (which also included two attractive chicks in doctors coats fiddling around with a clipboard and every so often singing) that there was about 1/4 of the people watching them as was The Colour. To throw out a number – maybe 40. I could be dreadfully wrong yet I’ve seen empty shows at Cinespace and this was one of them.

I will say this – I don’t mind their music, I would give it a listen every so often yet the live show killed it for me.

Well I’m done being Negative Nancy for today, I don’t usually like to write negative reviews but you know what, it has to be done.

New Track a Tiger

Track a Tiger

Way back in early 2006 I wrote about these guys and just yesterday they released a little taste of their new album. No label yet – yet they say they are going to send them off to some labels. Take a listen – I’m really into “All These Accidents” right now.

There is also lots of words and free songs over on DayTrotter. (Which is an amazing site by the way)

Raccoo-oo-oon

Raccoo-oo-oon is nothing short of raw, and gnarly. It’s the music you want to be violent to. Enough said, just listen to the tracks. It’s Friday and I don’t feel like typing any more than I have to.

The state of this Thursday February 1st

written by: DAN

It’s the first of the month. Awesome. I wasn’t able to post up yesterday cause I had a bunch of stuff to do for my classes and today I’m just gonna do like a “my thoughts right now” kinda thing.

New Bloc Party album tickles my fancy
I don’t mean that in a gay way even though he did officially come out early January. I’m really okay with it all. I think it’s great in fact. Anyways back to the album – there is nothing I don’t like about it. To clarify that, it’s a really inspirational and amazing album for myself. As compared to “Silent Alarm” it is more melodic and beautiful. It definately seems like they took their time with it. It’s been well over two years since “Silent Alarm” and I’m really happy that this is finally out.

Green Tea is awesome
I’ve been sick since last weekend and have been enjoying an obscene amount of vitamins and drugs along with many different kinds of green tea. I havn’t found my favorite yet out of the 3 or 4 I’ve tried. Anybody have a tea they absolutely love? Packets or the leafy kind is all good. I was thinking about dropping a bunch of money on Adagio Teas cause there is so many to choose from.

Young Love
Tonight I am heading to the Knitting Factory to see Young Love. I didn’t go. I’ve been watching and listening and dancing Young Love for the last 6 + months and it’s been pretty exciting. These guys are definately going to blow up into the public spotlight now and for the next couple months.
